D North Charleston 803-569-4373 alala.info If you could give only one piece of advice to your patients in regard to their health, what would it be? Know your body: Pay attention to any signs of concern. If something just does not feel right, do not hesitate to seek medical advice. Ask questions until you know that you have the attention of the appropriate people. Ensure that you’re comfortable with the answers provided by the health care professionals and that you have a clear understanding of your health situation. We know that what goes on outside plays a huge role on what goes on inside. Please share advice you would give, as a mentor, to women new to the health field. Learn to delegate: You don’t have to do everything yourself. Delegate tasks or responsibilities to others. Time management: Prioritizing tasks can reduce stress and increase your productivity. Set boundaries: Establish clear boundaries. Learn to say no. Let others share the load. Time off: Taking regular breaks, even short ones, can help you recharge and come back to work with renewed energy. Self-compassion: Avoid self-criticism and negativity. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer others. Offer three adjectives to describe your journey to becoming the health leader you are today. Passionate: Believe in what you teach others. Attitude and mood carry a lot of weight. A passionate leader is contagious. Look for opportunities to make improvements that can help meet goals. Rewarding: Despite challenges, the journey of becoming a health leader is incredibly rewarding. The opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of women, communities and society is a powerful motivator. The sense of fulfillment and satisfaction that comes with helping others is immensely gratifying. Transformative: The journey fosters personal growth and the development of qualities like empathy, resilience and leadership, making it a transformative experience. You acquire knowledge and gain practical experience as you undergo significant personal growth and development while also making a profound impact on the lives of others. Photo by Jenn Cady.
