Although she is a lifelong Northerner from Merrick, Long Island, New York, Dr. Anisis is enthusiastic about both relocating to this area and embracing the area’s rich and diverse culture: “I had never been to Charleston before; however, once I visited, I could see why everyone falls in love with this place. My husband was the initiating force for the move. He spent time in the South during his time serving in the Marines and felt our family and children should be raised with a more Southern constitution.” “While he will work with the local police force, I was drawn to Palmetto Primary Care Physicians,” she added. “I have always loved family medicine because it is more personal, and I think it better suits my personality and interests. PPCP is a physician-owned organization, which I find amazing as I am coming from a hospital-owned business up North.” In fact, Dr. Anisis is joining the largest independent, multi- specialty physicians’ group of its kind in South Carolina. Established in 1996 by seven doctors, PPCP has been an early innovator and adopter in modern health care initiatives such as participating in an accountable care organization and transitioning to a full-risk, shared-savings model. The group now serves more than 250,000 patients throughout eight counties, with more than 110 medical practitioners and 43 offices throughout the Lowcountry, the Midlands and the Grand Strand. The medical model at this organization is a progressive health care initiative designed to keep the patient as the first and primary priority, a position that can sometimes get lost when government and insurance agencies are in control. PPCP offers a broad menu that includes primary care, urgent care, diagnostics, imaging and lab work and specialty care. Dr. Anisis will be joining PPCP’s team of highly trained medical professionals – including nurses and CMAs – to assess, diagnose and treat patients at the Trident office at 9313 Medical Plaza Drive, Suite 202, in North Charleston. She’ll oversee her patients’ preventive care, diagnose emerging conditions, manage chronic illness and help patients coordinate their care with specialists, as needed. “My favorite part of my job will be allowing me the opportunity to get to know my patients. I will get to treat both patients and their extended families – the fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers, cousins and aunts and uncles. I always try to listen to my patients and include them in their treatment plans as we work together toward a future of health and prosperity,” she said. “I want to serve the Charleston community by being a trustworthy, competent and dependable doctor.” “While I may be new to the Lowcountry, I am joining an impressive PPCP family of physicians and team members who have cared for patients in this community for more than 25 years. I look forward to meeting our established patients and to welcoming new patients in our practice as early as September of this year,” Dr. Anisis added.
