When Coastal Vascular and Vein Center welcomed him to its esteemed team during the summer, Gaillard reached two personal goals: to serve the community he loves and to reunite with family and friends. Home-cooked meals and trips to Home Team BBQ and other favorite haunts with friends sealed the thrill he felt when he started work on July 18. Dr. Gaillard graduated from the University of Georgia cum laude before earning his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He then completed his general surgery residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he was drawn to vascular surgery. “One of my favorite parts about this field is that it is not a one problem, fix it and then move on field,” Dr. Gaillard explained. “Much like primary care doctors, we have the opportunity to build long-term relationships with patients.” Following his residency in Florida, Gaillard completed a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, then was employed by UAB Hospital and the Birmingham Veterans Affair Hospital as a clinical assistant professor in vascular surgery, where he offered patient-cen843.577.4551 | coastalvvc.com PATH TO VASCULAR SURGERY LEADS DOCTOR HOME By Lisa Moody Breslin
